2008 Lexus GS 350 Oil Change - Page 2 of 2
5W-30 Motor Oil
Apply a light coat of oil to the o-ring and gently put it back on the oil filter casing housing. Install new oil filter in casing. Tighten to 25 Nm +/- 5 Nm. I just put the muscle on it but I don't strain myself.

Filter Part Number (Toyota) and includes metal washer: 04152-YZZA5

Now go back through the steps and button everything up on the bottom side. Once that is complete, it is time to drop 6.6 quarts of 5w-30 oil down the hatch if you own a 2008 Lexus GS 350 2WD. Yes, we use synthetic motor oil. Page 545 of the 2008 manual in section 6.1 Specifications will have this information.

Again, be sure to consult your manual on how much and what type of oil you should use. The 4WD models use 6.7 quarts while the 460 uses 9.1 quarts.
It is always a good idea to double check that you have just the right amount of oil in the motor. The dip stick is used to check the oil level. I will not explain this but you can find the explanation on pages 409 - 410 in the 2008 GS 350 manual.

Page 412 in the 2008 Lexus GS 350 manual tells you how to reset your oil change indicator.

DO NOT PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE DURING THIS PROCEDURE.

The quick explanation is to hold down the Reset button and do not let go. Press the Start button once and then immediately again. Continue to hold the Reset button and you should see an indicator on the dash instructing you that you are almost done. Once the dash goes back to normal, you will know when, it has been reset. :-)

Note: If you wait a few seconds between ignition key depresses, it will not reset itself for some reason. So don't waste anytime when pressing the ignition button twice.
