Purpose: This modification will replace the air filter you currently have installed on your car with a new filter. This will keep air flow (performance) at its best.
Preface: The procedure for changing the air filter (with the exception for the K&N air filter) is the same for any air box lid you may have installed on your car. The K&N requires a small rubber gasket to be installed on the air box.
Before you start into this install, be sure you know how to use all of your shop equipment. Take your time and be careful.
1. Open the hood of your car and look in the front and center of the engine compartment. Locate the air box lid clamps and undo them (see the blue arrows in Figure 1).

2. Lift the air box lid in the front (see blue arrow in Figure 2). You can go ahead and pull the air filter out of the lower air box assembly (see red arrow in Figure 2).

3. Place your new filter back into the lower air box assembly (see blue arrow in Figure 3). If you have a K&N air filter you will have to place the rubber gasket that comes with the filter in the air box lid. Pull the protective layer off the rubber gasket so the sticky part is exposed, and place the sticky side on the inside of the air box lid. Figure 4 is a picture of the whisper lid with the K&N rubber gasket properly installed and adhering to the lid.

4. Lower the lid and refasten the metal air box clamps. That is all there is to it. You have just changed your air filter!
Comments: Just be sure to keep the filter changed so the engine is performing at its best at all times. We didn't feel any power gain and you will most likely not see more than two (2) rear wheel horsepower gain (if any) with the best air filters on the market.
